Talk about an enchanted building and spreading the sparkle! Gibb´s Building was instrumental in building what the owners envisioned. Although the building of the Christmas Shop progressed in stages, each has a story to tell, and one in particular, is the General Store.

The owners contracted Calvin Gibbs to do undertake this unique and delicate project. Initially, the thought was to move the property, located in Mann’s Harbor, known as the C.D. Mann General Store but being unable to transport this early, turn of the century building across the bridge; an alternative solution was devised.

Calvin’s visionary expertise and his team of skilled craftsmen disassembled the entire front of the original building then carefully transported it, piece by piece, to Roanoke Island’s Christmas Shop.
The addition along with the turn-of-the-century entrance, completed in 1997, now commemorates a threshold where visitors take a step back in time to linger in the vintage of an old general store to take a moment to relive a time that has long since passed.

Croatan Theatre - Manns Harbor

In addition, the use of the old Croatan Theatre building from by gone days in Manns Harbor was also disassembled.
Portions were skillfully utilized to create unique interior custom spaces inside the Christmas Shop. (see below photo...)
